A person commits the offence of reckless driving if he or she intentionally violates basic traffic regulations or accepts a high risk of an accident that could result in serious injury or death, whether by speeding, reckless overtaking or illegal speeding with motor vehicles. The driver will then be sentenced to a custodial sentence of one to four years.
It is also a misdemeanor for a person to drive a vehicle who:
Exceeding the speed limit by at least 40 km/h where the limit was set at 30 km/h
Exceeds the speed limit by at least 50 km/h where the limit was set at 50 km/h
Exceeded the speed limit by at least 60 km/h where the limit was set at 80 km/h
Exceeded the speed limit by at least 80km/h where the limit was set at 80km/h.
